Built in late 1969 as a 2800 saloon and retained to BMW. Registered to Bayerische Motoren Werke on January 13th 1970 as M-VC-1830. It was sent with 2 other cars to Seeger & Gauss to be converted to a Kombi estate car. The car was used by the factory race & rally teams as a tow / team support car through until July 1973. These cars were used to tow the factory 2002 rally cars to Monte Carlo, Acropolis, 1000 Lakes, RAC rally etc...the cars were fitted with a roll cage and grille behind the seats to prevent the spares from injuring the occupants in the event of an accident. Special SACHS gas dampers, battery cut-out etc....thought to be the only one to survive mostly due to having been owned by ex BMW mechanics since it left BMW. Currently 90% restored and hope it will be finished this year.
